    POSITION SUMMARY: The focus of the Hospice Nurse (Extended Hours) is to provide routine and scheduled visits as well as emergent critical need visits to patients in a timely manner over the extended hours schedule. The Hospice Nurse arranges for, teaches, and supervises the nursing care of patients in home care and facility settings in collaboration with other members of the Interdisciplinary Group.  The Hospice Nurse makes nursing assessments and uses critical thinking skills to provide care based on evidence-based practice.


    LICENSURE: Licensure from the governing body for nursing practice for the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia.


    EDUCATION: Nursing degree from NLN, CCNE nursing program.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.


    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of medical-surgical nursing experience. Experience in Hospice, home health, community health, or oncology nursing preferred. CHPN preferred.
